Last month, Chicago was host to Global Shop. The 3-day event featured informative roundtables and presentations related to every aspect of retail, covering store design, visual merchandising, retail tech, shopper marketing, and everything in between.
Every big event needs a killer kickoff, and this year that was the opening night CityScene Chicago party, hosted by Design:Retail. The venue, The Game Room at the Chicago Athletic Association, was nothing less than you’d expect for a city that has long be renowned as America’s sports town. True to its name, the Game Room offers guests a range of activities to enjoy, including billiards tables, a full-sized bocce court, cards, checkers and chess tables, foosball and shuffleboard, all with a 1950’s inspired feel. So what do mannequins have to do with games? More than you’d think…
Our creative team went to work thinking about how to create vignettes that matched the venue’s unique feel and maybe even inspired a few new games to add to their collection.
Our Pool Shark vignette spoke to our depth of capabilities. Not only did we show mannequins, we also created oversized objects and props, too. The bespoke billiards rack, as well as the 3D-printed billiard balls gave life to our very own Johnny Archer.
While there were many fun games in the Game Room, we added one, too, by creating our very own Domino Girl, accompanied by more than 30 dominos to complete the look.
Weekend Warriors were also on display showing their game, here with our Soccer Juggler. We’re no stranger when it comes to unique and special finishes on our mannequins. In addition to his tie, our juggler is wearing a dark faux wood finish that matched the dark interior of the Game Room.
Anything can be clothing if you put your mind to it, even playing cards! Our team hand glued together an amazing playing card dress for one of the mannequins.
